SA: Two men charged over Adelaide abduction

ADELAIDE, April 24 AAP - Two men in their mid-20s were charged today over the abduction
and beating of another man in Adelaide.

The victim was allegedly taken from his home at Morphett Vale, in Adelaide's southern
suburbs, about 2am (CST), a police spokeswoman said.

The man was held captive in a car for about 40 minutes and hit repeatedly with a metal
pipe, before escaping and making his way to a friend's house to call police, she said.

The two men -- a 23-year-old of no fixed address and a 24-year-old from Adelaide --
were arrested about 9am (CST) at a house in Semaphore Park, in Adelaide's north-west,
after police surrounded the house for two hours.

The men were charged with unlawful imprisonment, aggravated serious criminal trespass
and threatening life.

They were refused bail in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court and ordered to reappear
in court on Wednesday.

Police said the victim was known to the two men, and the abduction was believed to
be drug-related.

A 17-year-old girl who was at the house was also arrested and charged with hindering
police. She was released on bail and ordered to return to court on May 18.
